The bike is a 1954 model 88 Wideline Featherbed frame with 1955 6T pre-unit Thunderbird 650cc engine. The engine is fitted with a 9 stud Bonny head and twin Amal 930's. As you can see it has Goldie silencers. Not quite sure about the forks yet. Rims are 19" running Avon TT100's. The bike has some racing history in the mid to late 1960's, when it was raced with a 500cc T100 engine. It was last raced in Australia in 1969 (Phillip Island) after which it spent a few years in the sunshine (we could all do with some of that). It was rebuilt in 2001 (since when it has covered only 670 miles), though I suspect it has not had the TLC it deserves of late. It would appear that it was SORN'd in August 2005 and may not have been run for nearly three years. It took me two days to fire it up again. Nothing major, just old fuel and plugs from what I can see. It now fires up second or third kick every time. |
